Issue No. 13 - March 2009 |
A snapshot of Bishops, Friday 6 March 2009 - rowers away at SA Champs; waterpolo boys away at the KES tournament; swimmers and a diver away at SA National Aquatics Champs; basketballers away at the St John's tournament; 1st XI, 2nd XI, U15A and U14A cricketers in PE to play Grey HS and Woodridge College; 104 Grade 7 boys from far and wide who are keen to become Bishops Grade 8s in 2010 at the "Experience Bishops" programme run by Grant Nupen; Bishops, under the guidance and leadership of Jason Bantjes, hosts the national Boys' Schools Conference ... Sounds chaotic and it takes exceptional qualities all-round to pull this off - and we did.
In the meantime, lessons have been taught and learned, mark reports have been compiled, debaters have debated for 24 hours, cyclists have braved 65 kph winds, fencers have been thrusting and parrying, actors have been rehearsing their lines and moves for "Romeo and Juliet", musicians have been hard at work, the leaders of the new leadership committees have been meeting and acting upon decisions made, various charities have been supported and virtually every Bishops boy from Pre-Prep to post matric has been playing some sport or other several times a week.
All this can only happen successfully in a truly stimulating environment. Bishops certainly inspires individuals ... to perform well in a team environment.
