Issue No 11 - September 2008

Once again, so much has happened since the last edition of BishopsBlue, and although some of the news may be old hat to many, it makes interesting reading. Hot off the press, though, is the announcement of the new headmaster for the College. Vernon Wood, currently headmaster of Bergvliet High School, will take up his new post on 1 January 2009. The Eisteddfod never fails to impress and amaze with its range and depth of talent - and the same thing can be said about the Classic Pops; the Bishops family was invited to attend The Next Wave Summit, the follow-up to the 2010 Conference of 2001, and we were treated to a very challenging two-day process that has resulted in the formation of action committees and action by them; and our sports teams have continued to do us proud!

Eisteddfod 2008

To many the Bishops Eisteddfod is held as one of the school's proudest traditions; music, speech, writing, art, singing and performance coming together in a single interhouse competition for which the rest of the school literally stops. [Read more]

Top of the Classic Pops

The year of the Bishops Classic Pops is always a special one in the Music Department and it always adds a bit more nervous energy to all the ensemble activities and acts, I believe, as a huge motivating factor in raising the performance level of all the players for the rest of the year. 1st XI Cricketers Excel in England

The 1st Cricket XI toured England in the mid-year holidays, had a most enjoyable time and brought much credit to Bishops through the brand of cricket played and the way in which we conducted ourselves at all times. [Read more]
