It is difficult to believe that today is the end of the first term already - and, as usual, what a hectic term it has been - we have really thrown as much paint as we could on the Bishops canvas!
The 1st XI cricketers played no fewer than 26 matches (including 11 outside of the Western Cape); the waterpolo teams, rowers, squash and tennis players have competed away from home, too; Sports Day and the Triangular saw outstanding performances by our multi-talented athletes; Andre de Decker (Gray, Grade 11) has continued to progress as one of the most promising golfers in the country; Bishops Drama has, once again, come up trumps with another outstanding musical production; our basketballers have swept aside most opposition; our debating teams and their coaches have been preparing thoroughly for the world champs here at Bishops; various hockey teams have been preparing for pre-season festivals around the country; and our 1st XV rugby squad has departed for a tour of England and France.
Founders Day has been celebrated in style and the "Experience Bishops" day for prospective Grade 8s in 2008 has been run by Mel Wallis-Brown and the Grade 11 PR Group.
Meanwhile, several inter-house competitions have been completed, the two most notable achievements probably being Ogilvie's double triumph in the cricket and Gray's victory in the senior tug-of-war; Olympiads, Lego, Science and steam-car competitions have been competed in; and academic progress has been reported on via mark reports. The Pre-Prep and Prep have played their roles, too. The Valentine's Day social and the Bishops Bash have added to the diversity of our interaction across the campuses.
Now for the winter, exams and ... Eisteddfod. Never a dull moment at Bishops!
